Training Programmes
LASR Labs
LASR Labs is a technical AI safety research programme focused on reducing the risk of loss of control to advanced AI.
Participants work in teams of three to four, supervised by an experienced AI safety researcher, to write an academic-style paper and accompanying blog post. Participation is full-time and in-person from the London Initiative for Safe AI alongside other AI safety researchers.
AI Governance Taskforce
The AI Governance Taskforce is a career development programme for experienced professionals looking to transition careers into AI governance, focussed on reducing risks from advanced AI.
Participants work around existing commitments during our 12 week, remote, part-time cohorts, producing policy research in teams of 4, led by our Research Team Lead staff in partnership with recognised experts in the field. Teams write an academic-style paper and accompanying blog post to build knowledge, skills and work portfolios.
Research
Alignment Research
Launched in May 2026, the Arcadia Alignment team is a London-based research group working in close collaboration with the UK AI Security Institute's Alignment team.
Our team focusses on empirical alignment science: research grounded in experiments on frontier models, aimed at the questions facing those who build and govern advanced AI.
Model Motivations
Two models can behave identically while pursuing different goals. We study the motivations a model develops, and how training shapes them.
Scalable Oversight
We are studying debate protocols and how to apply them towards aligning models we might not be able to control.
Automated Alignment
We are building tools for automating our alignment research and understanding how the models can help us help them.
